Qwest DSL Bandwidth Upgrade

February 18th, 2004

I recently found out that Qwest upgraded the bandwidth for their DSL Deluxe accounts from 640Kbps/256kbps to 1.5Mbps/896Kbps for no extra cost. Of course those aren’t guaranteed numbers, Qwest always throws “up to” before all their numbers, but it definetely an increase.

The first thing I did was to go over to DSLReports and test my current bandwidth, which turned out to be 533Kbps/210Kbps. I then called Qwest and asked to be upgraded. They did hit me with a one-time $9.99 set up fee in order to upgrade to the higher bandwidth.

So if you’re currently a Qwest DSL Deluxe subscriber, and want more bandwidth, call Qwest’s customer service and get upgraded.

Update:
After hearing from others that they upgraded without being charged the $9.99 set up fee, I called Qwest. The CSR assured me that the fee would still be waived. It’s not that I’m cheap, but when it comes to Qwest I don’t want to shell out any more dough than I absolutely have to.

Here is some info that Jeff forwarded me from his ISP:
